Building the Earth-Moon Econosphere
There are four areas where we are currently doing business, or have the potential to do business, in the Earth-Moon system.
Low Earth orbit
Medium Earth Orbit
High Earth orbit
Moon
Near Earth Asteroids
All of these regions are where satellites take images of the Earth, and relay data, phone calls, faxes, email, messages, and TV to our global society. One is where the International Space Station hosts the National Laboratory where fee-paid on-orbit research is being conducted.
This site will focus a lot on satellites simply because they are most of what commercial space consists of at this point in time. But now human rated activities are on the horizon that have great economic potential for many companies in the next few years.
Commercial Space Connections will enable the reader to stay informed on what opportunities are available for research, education, and investment in the Earth-Moon system. It is a research tool for commercial space industrial activities.
Companies developing suborbital vehicles and services will also be included. Whether they be point-to-point rocket services or balloon flights, links to these companies will be included here.
Mars is becoming a new business aspiration where humans will pay to travel and settle there. Though still at least a decade away, the steady implementation of a Mars transportation system will be reported soon.
Andrew M. Thorpe
As a business consultant and science author, Andrew’s focus is in describing use cases for space business opportunities. Areas of study are in tourism, microgravity research, manufacturing, satellites, and other commercial applications. His two books, The Commercial Space Age (2003) and The Commercial Space Station (2009), available on Amazon, are great primers on what this 21st century business is about.
